I am very excited to begin to dive into this project!

My goal for Genius Hour is to make scrunchies out of recycled clothing.

I will be making scrunchies from each item of clothing that I purchase, producing little waste. I hope to keep the cost of each item under 10 dollars. During this project, I want to learn how to properly sew.

I would say that this project is a success if I can look at my scrunchies and say "I would buy this in a store." I really hope to grasp a good understanding of proper stitching methods and making seams look neat and tidy.

So far, I have asked my Nonna for help with this project. She said yes! Also, I have selected multiple thrift stores that I will be visiting to purchase my recycled clothes from. I have selected chain stores such as Value Village, and some small local stores such as Hawk and Sparrow.

I plan on using Genius Hour as a gateway into making bigger and better clothing items.

My next steps are to visit about 4 different stores to find the perfect materials for my scrunchies.

Next stop: Thrift store!
